Devin Haney told Teofimo Lopez today on X, “You'll get it” Once he won his fight in May against Jose Ramirez in Times Square, Manhattan, New York, and his rematch in October with Ryan Garcia.

Haney started it off by asking why he didn't fight Subriel Matias, but he didn't do it well. He tarnished Teo's name, calling him “TeHOE” when he asked him why he didn't face the powerful former IBF 140lb champion Subriel (21-2, 21 KOs), who isn't a piece of cake for anyone in the division. It would be a nightmare for Hani.

Teofimo made these excuses for not fighting Mattias:

  • Top Rank wanted to fight on the West Coast. Teo wanted it in New York City
  • The fight was put on PPV
  • He was offered $2.8 million: Teofimo replied that he was the “last star” at number one. He mentioned Keyshawn Davis as the intern at Top Rank, as their protégé, who they're trying to turn into a star.

If Haney can beat Ramirez and Garcia in their next two fights, the matchup against Teofimo will be huge if he is undefeated this year. Lopez hasn't said who he plans to fight next, but if he faces Jaron “Boots” Ennis, he will likely lose badly.

He's already having major problems trying to beat 140-pound fighters. He has had good luck in his fights against Sandor Martin and Jamin Ortiz. Many people think Teofimo Lopez is fighting both fights.

It would be better for Haney to focus on what's in front of him now: former WBC and WBO 140-pound champion Ramirez. This guy could defeat Devin and spoil his rematch with Garcia in October.

Ramirez: End of the line?

That fight will happen anyway, since Turki Al-Sheikh wants to organize it in Riyadh. But it will take a lot of attention to the match if Haney loses to Ramirez. I now expect Haney to go 0-2 in his 2025 fights, and his career will be forgotten.

Devin could still stay in the business if he joins up with promoter Eddie Hearn, who could set him on the task of rebuilding a four-fight Joshua-type fight for Renewed to the specification factor. Let's face it: Haney was never good, but he did well because he gave up on fighting younger, at 135 years old, and fought the right guy to begin with when he moved up to 140 years old, Regis Prograis.
