Teofimo Lopez showed off his belt collection on X Today and mocked IBF light welterweight champion Richardson Hitchens. Lopez (21-1, 13 KO) told Hitchens he won't get his belts.

2025 forecast

The belts Teofimo showed will likely disappear in his next fight against Hitchins, a terrifying bout for Teo. This man will do to Teo what George Kambosos Jr. did.

Teofimo is expected to fight two opponents in 2025: Hitchens and Jaron “Boots” Ennis. He could fight Hitchens first in the summer and Potts in October. This could be a bad year for Lopez, as he lost both of his matches and then enters February 2026 with his career on the line against Devin Haney or Ryan Garcia.

Lopez won't receive much criticism from fans for his loss to Boots Ennis as he will move up to 147 to face the best fighter in the division. However, Teo will not get the same free pass if he is beaten by Hitchins (19-0, 7 KOs) and then be embarrassed when he faces the loser of the Haney vs. Garcia 2 rematch in February 2026.

Teofimo made himself look bad by turning down what his promoter, Bob Arum, says is a career-high payday to defend against Subriel Matias. The purse would have been bigger, and he could have earned more from PPV. His refusal seemed like a duck move to Teofimo, showing that he was afraid.

Bragging about the belt

“Richardson, you can train now, kid. You're not going to get it,” Teofimo Lopez said on Channel X, showing off his belt collection and mocking IBF light welterweight champion Richardson Hitchens.

“Boots, we're coming for three,” Teofimo said of his desire to capture Jaron 'Boots' Ennis' IBF welterweight title and become a three-division world champion.
