Vidarbha captain Karun Nair is in very good form in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25, reminding the Indian selectors that he is not done yet amid the failures of big names in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 in Australia.

Currently, Karun Nair is breaking records with his stunning knocks in the ongoing 50-over tournament. The Indian batsman created history during the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25 by setting a new world record for the most consecutive runs in List A cricket without being dismissed.

Nair achieved the astonishing feat on January 3 during Vidarbha VHT 2024-25 match against Uttar Pradesh. In a thrilling 308-run chase, the Vidarbha captain played an impressive knock of 112 runs and was dismissed for the first time in his last four innings of the tournament.

His 112 knocks were filled with 11 fours and two sixes. During his century, Karun Nair set a new world record, overtaking New Zealander James Franklin to become the player with the most consecutive List A innings without being dismissed. On Friday, January 3, Nair surpassed Franklin's tally of 527 runs which he achieved in 2010.

After the right-handed batsman was dismissed for 112 by Bihari Rai, his first in the tournament, his unbeaten run ended at 542 in the ongoing 2024-25 Vijay Hazare Trophy. This was Karun Nair's 144th and third consecutive century in the ongoing tournament.

Karun Nair became the first Indian to score more than 500 unbeaten runs in List A cricket.

The Vidarbha skipper started the 2024-25 VHT season with an unbeaten 112* against Jammu and Kashmir, followed by a strong 44* against Chhattisgarh. He then scored a stunning 163* against Chandigarh, followed by a stunning 111* against Tamil Nadu and now 112 against Uttar Pradesh.

With his impressive power during Vidarbha's eight-wicket win over Uttar Pradesh at the Vizi Stadium in Vizianagaram on Friday, Nair also became the first Indian batsman to score 500 or 500+ runs in List A without being dismissed across the innings when he reached 70.

In five matches, Nair has accumulated 542 points in the ongoing tournament. He now has seven centuries, four of which have come in the space of eight days, and 13 fifty in List A cricket. Now, Nair has 2,779 runs to his name in 102 List A matches.

This will be Nair's second time playing for Delhi Capitals (DC), having previously played for the franchise in the 2016-17 season. Last year, Nair ended his 11-year association with Karnataka and moved to Vidarbha in 2023, now captaining VHT for the ongoing 2024-25 season.
