Today, Keshawn Davis said on social media that he would be “Incredibly powerful” on February 14 when he next fights. Davis (12-0, 8 KOs) is expected to next challenge Denis Perincek for the WBO lightweight title at the Hula Theater in Madison Square Garden in New York.
Davis did not say how stronger he would be because he is not known as a puncher. He's more of a boxer, and the guys he knocked out were mostly middle-of-the-road fighters. Perinczyk is too much talent for Davis to beat, so it would be foolish for him to focus on that angle to win this fight. Perinczyk has beaten a lot of tough fighters during his many years in the amateur ranks.
Keyshawn chose not to face his friend Shakur Stevenson, the WBC lightweight champion, for his belt because he did not want to fight him. He believes he will defeat Berinchyk (19-0, 9 KOs) to capture his WBO belt and then use the title to land fights against Gervonta Davis and Vasily Lomachenko. Seems like a pipe dream.
If Keyshawn gets his hands on the WBO belt, he'll be defending it against any unknown contender who could pry him from the top rank, but it won't be Tank or Loma. This does not happen.
Back door hero
These guys won't fight Davis, but not because they're afraid of him. They are both heading into retirement and will focus on popular fighters that casual boxing fans have heard about. Keyshawn is completely unknown to the showrunners.
The top ranking was quickly followed by 2020 Olympic silver medalist Davis, who moved him to a title opportunity without making his way there, fighting any of the top contenders at lightweight, such as Andy Cruz or Edwin de los Santos. referred to as ““back door method” Which promoters use for fighters who don't want to risk them.
If they believed in Keshawn, they would have tested him against Cruz and de los Santos. They clearly know what could happen to Davis if he fights either of those talents, and it wouldn't do him any good. It will be a rematch of Keshon's defeat in the 2020 Olympics.
Next time I'm in that ring, I'll be incredibly strong.💪🏾 #14 Feb⭐️
