Barcelona are said to have failed in their latest attempt to re-sign Dani Olmo and Pau Victor.
Leading Catalan newspaper El Mundo Deportivo said the club's attempt to seek an injunction that would enable them to register players failed this morning in Barcelona's Commercial Court No. 10.
The financially strapped European giants will launch another legal challenge against La Liga – Barcelona claim the organization is incompetent – on Monday, but defeat there could make players available on free transfers in January.
That will alert a host of top clubs with attacking midfielder Olmo, a £50m summer signing from RB Leipzig, likely to attract huge interest.
Olmo agent in Manchester
The Spain international was a key figure in his country's European Championship victory over the summer, and his agent Andy Parra is believed to be in Manchester for City's Boxing Day draw with Everton.
Parra told The Mail he was there on holiday, but it ties into the theory that Olmo would be a natural fit for the ailing City champions, especially with Pep Guardiola admitting he is looking for reinforcements in January due to his long injury list.
Manchester United and Arsenal are also believed to be interested in Olmo.
Barcelona's financial problems continue
Today's decision is another blow to Barcelona as it continues to violate La Liga's financial rules.
El Mundo reported that the club has already explored other ways to raise revenue that would boost its hopes of being able to re-sign Olmo and Victor, including selling VIP seats at the revamped Camp Nou.
