WASHINGTON (Reuters) – President Donald Trump's White House has instructed the U.S. military to lift the Biden administration's ban on supplying 2,000-pound bombs to Israel, a White House source told Reuters on Saturday.
The move was widely expected. Biden has halted the delivery of those bombs out of concern about the impact they could have in Israel's war with Hamas in Gaza. A ceasefire was recently agreed to stop the war.
The Biden administration was particularly concerned about the use of such large bombs in the city of Rafah, where more than a million Palestinians in Gaza have taken refuge.
