According to analysts at BofA Global Research, this new generation of AI goes beyond existing generative AI tools, such as chatbots and co-pilots, by offering autonomous decision-making agents capable of carrying out complex tasks without explicit human instructions.

Agentic AI refers to a class of advanced underlying models that act as operating systems for autonomous agents.

These agents possess enhanced reasoning abilities and the ability to take independent actions to achieve specific goals.

Bank of America points out that this shift outpaces previous waves of technology, such as the adoption of personal computers and the Internet.

The implications of Agent AI are wide-ranging. Fully autonomous fleets of digital agents and robots could revolutionize industries that rely heavily on human labor, leading to a “corporate efficiency revolution.”

Sectors such as manufacturing, customer service, logistics and healthcare are expected to benefit significantly.

Conversely, the rise of artificial intelligence can stimulate innovation and create new economic opportunities. Thousands of AI-focused startups are expected to emerge, leveraging advanced technologies to deliver scalable solutions across industries.
