Valentina Cervantes, the ex-wife of Chelsea star Enzo Fernandes, has spoken out about her relationship with the midfielder before they split earlier this year. Fernandes joined the Blues in a £107m deal in January 2023, a Premier League record at the time, which was later broken by Moises CaicedoTransfer worth 115 million pounds sterling.
The pair parted ways in October, while the 23-year-old midfielder struggled for minutes. He has since found his form and has scored 10 goals in eight matches across competitions since the start of November Chelsea.
In a recent interview with Game, Set & Match, Cervantes spoke about her relationship with the player and their amicable breakup. The social media influencer said (via the Daily Mail):
“Everything was fine and suddenly one day he told me he didn't want to be like that anymore. There are things I still have to process, but that's it, I've accepted it. When we met, I worked in an empanada restaurant and he studied law and was in Lower River then played in the reserve team and when we moved in together, I changed my job to a call center near the Obelisk.
“At that time, I earned more than what his representative gave me. We spent my full salary, and I had nothing left to save. Nine months later, I became pregnant with Olivia, and I was 19 years old.”
When asked if she still loved Fernandez, Cervantes replied:
“I believe that love is still there because it is very difficult for it to leave so quickly. I do not depend on a man or anyone to be happy. With my children I will always be happy.”
Chelsea will take on Irish side Shamrock Rivers in the Conference League on Thursday evening (December 19).

It was my decision to leave them out but it was not because they were training poorly or because of a bad performance.” The behavior wasn't right, it was simple technical decisions.
“Sometimes, when you leave players, you hurt them and motivate them to give something extra, but Enzo can be a good example for the rest.”
