Challenge: Battle of the Ages Episode 17 aired last week on December 18, 2024. This segment was the last before the finale and saw Cara Maria's journey come to an end after a water elimination mission against Tori Deal.
After the cast member was eliminated, she spoke to Entertainment Weekly about her time on the show and opened up about the many things that didn't make it into the final cut. She discussed the drama between Johnny Bananas, Olivia Kaiser, and Theo Campbell and noted that she was surprised no one was talking about “Bedgate.”
Olivia and Theo, whose relationship blossomed in Season 40, put their family together on the Era 1 side after most of the team was eliminated, the cast member revealed. She said they wanted privacy but other people started sleeping in “their place.” She revealed that Johnny Bananas didn't want them “this side of the house” and devised a plan.
She said this was the “weirdest thing” and that Olivia and Theo were “so angry” because Johnny was acting like they couldn't be on “this side of the house”.
“There was all this drama and we called it bedgate,” she said.

During a conversation with Entertainment Weekly, Dear Maria It reflects on her Challenge Season 40 trip. She talked about some things that didn't air on TV including her, Tori, and Olivia eavesdropping on Johnny Bananas' “sermons.”
“We would hear him talking loudly and say, ‘He's talking bad about us.’ We would literally make a human ladder to go up to the balcony where Johnny was talking and we would listen to him.” He said.
Challenge Season 40 cast members have been called up Michelle Fitzgerald She became “so angry” that she stormed into the room and told Bananas that they could hear everything. At the time, Cara told Michelle she “blew up” their place because they could have listened to more.
Cara invited Maria to the shoot Season 40 “Interesting” and said the cast made the best of “living in the Devil's Hole”. She said it was hot in the house but they did their best and she recalled that they only came out after dark to beat the heat.
Cara Maria was also asked about her “sexy style.” Challenge Season 40 and wondered why 40 people were brought in to compete in the show when they would be “abandoned” in the first episode itself. The cast member wondered if there would be a reunion for just these people or at least a subsequent screening.
“If we didn't have a redemption home, I would feel like it was a mistake,” she added.
Challenge The Season 40 star said his post-elimination goals could have been kept secret. Cara felt it would be “crazier” if the contestants wrote down their goals before elimination and no one knew who they were. She said it would have been an “immediate development” and would have caused more paranoia in the house.
The cast member also contributed giving Banana one karma point during her elimination from Challenge: Battle of the Ages. She said no one else got a low number and she gave everyone a “high five.” She said she didn't want to “mess” with anyone else's game, including Gordon's, despite their troubled past.
