BBC Russia editor Steve Rosenberg challenged Vladimir Putin on whether he “looked after” Russia during his 25-year rule.
At the president's annual press conference at the end of the year, Rosenberg reminded Putin how his predecessor, Boris Yeltsin, had asked him to take care of the country when he handed over power.
In response, Putin said that Russia had “restored its sovereignty.”
