Promoter Frank Warren was hurting for something fierce after his fighter, Tyson Fury, lost to unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk by 12-round unanimous decision on Saturday night in a rematch in Riyadh.
Fury's hasty exit
Fury then ran out of the ring, not wanting to face the music and hold his feet to the fire to smear the media. What does that tell you? If he thought he had won, he would have stayed and stood on his hind legs and complained about it.
The referees scored the score in favor of Usyk 116-112, 116-112 and 116-112. It's 10-2 for Usyk. Even in close rounds, Fury wasn't doing anything but throwing backhands and weak shots.
Warren was “stunned” by the results of two judges, who had Usyk (23-0, 12 KOs) sweeping every round from six onwards against former WBC heavyweight champion Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs). The other judge had Fury win only one of the last six rounds.
I watched the fight, and I had Usyk sweep every round of the fifth. It looked easy to score, as Fury's reflexes looked strong, and he was doing almost nothing in attack. He seemed afraid to throw punches for fear of being blocked by Usyk's sniper-like left hand.
The skinny fury that defeated Wladimir Klitschko in his prime in 2015 is gone tonight. In his place was a flabby 40-year-old heavyweight who was unable to pull the trigger with his punches.
He fought the Gypsy King just as 39-year-old Vladimir had fought him nine years earlier. Vlad couldn't pull the trigger that night in Dusseldorf, Germany, and Fury was the same tonight. He was mentally incarcerated
stunned
I am amazed. Promoter Frank Warren said: “They gave him (Fury) four rounds out of twelve, which is impossible.” TNT Sports Boxing complains about the loss of its fighter, Tyson Fury, on the scorecards to unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk in a rematch in Riyadh.
“I know I'm biased, but one judge didn't give him a single round from the sixth round onwards. How could that be? That's impossible. Same with the other judge here. He gave him one round out of the last six. Same here with this guy. It's Madness.
“I'm calm, I'm collected. I'm not yelling and screaming. This is bullshit. Everyone's along that front row over there. Oscar De La Hoya and I have managed to win three or four rounds. This is Oscar and he's neutral. He's only won one round in two From the judges' scorecards from rounds six onwards, I mean, what fight were they watching?'' Warren said as he protested to the judges for not giving his fighter Fury the win.
“I'm astonished.”@Frank Warren He talks through the scorecards and how he thinks the judges got it wrong…
