Virgil van Dijk has refused to put a timeframe on his contract negotiations with Liverpool, but admitted there is still no update on his future with the club.

Van Dijk is approaching the final six months of his contract and has already rejected Liverpool's opening offer for an extension, with The terms on the table are not satisfactory for the 33-year-old.

This means the Dutchman is just days away from being able to negotiate a contract with clubs abroad, and there would likely be no shortage of interest in Van Dijk if he becomes available as a free agent.

Although time is running out, Van Dijk insisted he will not set a deadline for his decision.

Van Dijk confirmed that there were no updates regarding his situation, and told reporters: “There is no deadline at all. We will see what the future holds.”

Van Dijk once again insisted that his focus remains solely on field issues, starting with LiverpoolVisit Leicester City on Boxing Day.

“I'm focused on Leicester,” he said. “I'll go home as soon as possible to see my family and have a great few days and then focus fully on Leicester.” That's the only thing I can think of.”
