(Reuters) – Ukrainian drones attacked a fuel storage infrastructure facility in the Oryol region of central Russia, sparking a fire and smashing the windows of homes, the region's governor, Andrei Klychkov, said early on Saturday.
Writing on the Telegram messaging app, Klychkov said that a “mass attack” on an infrastructure site caused the fuel to catch fire. He added that the fragments of the drones that were dropped shattered the windows of the houses.
A video posted on Ukrainian military blogs showed a fire burning in what was described as a fuel storage facility. Reuters was unable to independently verify reports from either side.
Drone attacks have been reported in other Russian regions.
The governor of the Krasnodar Region, Vladimir Kondratyev, said that air defenses destroyed Ukrainian drones in several areas of the region in southern and eastern Ukraine. A drone smashed the windows of village houses, but there were no casualties.
The region's governor, Alexander Bogomaz, said that air defenses destroyed seven drones over the Bryansk region on the northern border of Ukraine.
In Russia's Belgorod region, which is often targeted by the Ukrainian army on the northeastern border, Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said Ukrainian forces attacked two villages, wounding one resident and starting a house fire that was quickly extinguished.
