UK wage growth accelerated in the three months to November, even as employers cut jobs following the Labor government's tax hike budget, official data showed on Tuesday.

The Office for National Statistics said salary employment fell by 0.1 per cent between October and November, and was 11,000 fewer in the three months to November than in the previous quarter.

Early estimates for December point to a larger month-on-month decline of 47,000 to 30.3 million in the paid labor force.

At the same time, wage growth strengthened. The Office for National Statistics said average weekly earnings in the three months to November were 5.6 per cent higher than the previous year, including and excluding bonuses.

This was in line with analysts' expectations and up from a growth rate of 5.2 percent in the three months to October, driven by private sector profits.
