On Tuesday, a New York Court of Appeals judge rejected a request submitted by the president-elect Donald Trump His criminal sentencing was postponed on Friday for his conviction in a case involving hush money payments to a porn star ahead of the 2016 election.

Judge Ellen Geismer's rejection came shortly after she held a hearing on Trump's request in Manhattan.

Trump's lawyers argued that Trump was entitled to stay in the case because of a U.S. Supreme Court ruling last year that said presidents enjoy presumptive criminal immunity for official acts they take while in office. The lawyers also claimed that Trump would suffer irreparable harm and his constitutional rights would be violated if he is sentenced 10 days before he is sworn in for a second term.

Gesmer was skeptical of those claims during the hearing.

“After consideration of the submitted papers and extensive oral arguments, Movant’s request for a temporary stay is denied,” the judge wrote in her ruling.
