Donald TrumpThe US President's presidential transition team on Monday released a schedule of parties, formal gatherings and other events surrounding his inauguration as the 47th President of the United States next week.
The four-day schedule includes a fireworks display and three VIP events at Trump's golf course outside Washington, D.C., as well as a celebratory MAGA rally on the eve of the swearing-in ceremony.
It also includes three inaugurations, a relatively small number by recent presidential standards — and one that seems even more modest given the record amount of money Trump's inauguration committee has at its disposal.
Vance's Trump inaugural committee has raised more than $170 million and is on track to have more than $200 million to spend on inaugural events and operations, including media. NBC News I have been informed.
The nonprofit committee is charged with planning and hosting much of the ceremonies that traditionally accompany presidential transfers of power.
This does not include Trump's swearing-in at the Capitol or his inaugural address, both of which are funded by a special joint congressional committee.
Outside of the parties, many of Trump's events will be held at his golf course in Virginia, a break from recent inaugurations that have kept events largely inside Washington, D.C.
Unlike in 2021, when President Joe Biden held a fireworks display over the National Mall in D.C., the fireworks will explode at Trump's club more than 20 miles from Capitol Hill, out of sight of much of the public.
Trump's second inauguration, like his first in 2017, will have far more money than other recent presidents, while hosting fewer events.
Former President Barack ObamaFor example, his 2009 inauguration featured 10 formal ceremonies along with dozens of other informal events. His inaugural committee stirred 53 million dollarsa record at the time.
Former President Bill Clinton attended a record number 14 official balls During his second inauguration in 1997, which reportedly raised less than 24 million dollars.
president Joe Biden It did not host any balls in 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Trump's massive fundraising scale and relatively slim timeline mirror the circumstances of his 2017 inauguration, which raised $107 million and spent more than $97 million over just two days of events.
This unprecedented jump in spending amounted to about $37,000 per minute, more than four times what Obama spent in the first minute, which was $8,600. OpenSecrets was accounted for in 2018.
Trump's current inauguration committee did not immediately respond to CNBC's questions about its fundraising and spending plans.
While Trump pledges to reform US economic policies — including by imposing potentially sweeping tariffs while cutting all kinds of taxes and other regulations — some top executives and companies appear eager to improve their once frosty relations with him.
This extends to the inaugural committee, which received millions of dollars in donations from a wave of companies, including several tech giants who declined to contribute to his 2017 inauguration.
Last week, outgoing FTC Chairwoman Lina Khan suggested as much on CNBC Amazon and Facebook Parents dead Maybe you're working to getDeal baby“From the incoming Trump administration.
Perhaps in response to the growing interest in currying favor with Trump, the inauguration committee is reportedly asking major donors to provide at least $1 million — double the amount it requested in 2017 — for the chance to get some face time with the president. – or the Vice President-elect, The Guardian reported.
