The return of President-elect Donald J. Trump to the White House comes at a critical moment for America Energy future. We are seeing unprecedented demand for reliable energy to fuel emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and quantum computing. This demand is expected to grow significantly in the coming years. And in President Biden's Washington, Democrats have veered further to the left in a failed attempt to excite his political base by pushing unrealistic dreams of an electric grid powered solely by unpredictable wind and solar energy. Fortunately, Trump understands this energy Security, technological superiority, and national security are at stake. We have already seen the importance the new administration places on good energy policy with the announcement of the creation of the new National Energy Board.

the amount of energy The use of AI data centers alone is expected to rise significantly over the next decade. Every time a new technology is announced, or an advance in quantum computing occurs, there is a corresponding increase in energy demand. Other countries around the world, especially China, are building massive data centers and the power infrastructure needed to support advances in artificial intelligence. On the other hand, the US energy sector has been incapacitated for four years due to policymaking that sought to restrict energy production rather than unleash its full potential.

With the past as prologue, Trump's first term and his record of supporting reliable nuclear power as a vital energy source provide reason for optimism about the new direction of American energy policy. Trump has a proven track record of delivering results on nuclear energy and showing what is possible when we put America first.

Within the first six months of his first term, Trump announced an initiative to unleash the power of American innovation in industry. “First, we will begin to revive and expand our nuclear energy sector – which I am very pleased about – which produces clean, renewable, emissions-free energy,” he said.

In 2019, Trump Department of Energy The Department of Energy has finalized loan guarantees totaling $12 billion to finance construction of the Vogtle Nuclear Power Plant in Georgia. This was the first nuclear plant to begin construction in the United States in decades. This achievement was not only about creating job opportunities or expanding our production capacity. It was a down payment on our future technological innovations.

In the same year, President Trump issued a presidential memorandum establishing the U.S. Nuclear Fuel Working Group. It was a meaningful recognition that there were national security implications related to the need to produce nuclear energy. Ultimately, the administration proposed a uranium reserve program at the Department of Energy to ensure America's energy future.

Trump's forward-looking approach also provided an important response to China. Previous administrations have ignored China's efforts to control the global nuclear and artificial intelligence markets. However, the Trump administration took concrete measures to restrict nuclear exports to China and succeeded in convincing allies to buy nuclear technology from America instead of China.

Many Democrats in Washington want you to believe that their green agenda is the only way forward, and refuse to accept any other ideas, no matter how meritorious. Most Americans are already aware of the fact that powering artificial intelligence and other future technologies using only solar and wind energy is a fantasy. They are unreliable, uneconomical, and unable to provide the amount of energy America needs. Fortunately, President Trump has already laid much of the groundwork to protect existing nuclear capabilities and invest in the future. Now we have a real opportunity to add nuclear capacity through new plants or by reviving much-needed closed plants. However, we must ensure that our current nuclear fleet, which has seen a number of shutdowns in the past decade, is preserved. This two-pronged strategy will provide the additional energy we need around the clock, supplement existing infrastructure, and support technological innovation.

Energy policy does not exist in a vacuum. It is closely linked to America's technological future and global economic leadership. Protecting existing nuclear capabilities Expanding them means we can power more AI, more quantum computing, and more technological innovation at home, all on power that runs around the clock in all weather conditions. Every advance in nuclear technology strengthens our national security and ensures that we do not cede our technological superiority to China or Russia.

During one of his campaign visits in Pennsylvania, Trump touted the benefits of nuclear energy and pledged to embrace it as an energy source. “I will get quick approvals for new energy infrastructure, and we will embrace all forms of energy, including nuclear energy,” he said. “Nuclear energy is great energy.” China is aggressively expanding its industrial and technological infrastructure. We cannot allow insufficient energy capacity to hold us back. And I'm confident that the team that President Trump has assembled, including North Dakota Governor Doug Bergum at the Department of the Interior and Liberty Energy CEO Chris Wright at the Department of Energy, understand this.
