Munguia vs Surace live updates

-Undefeated super bantamweight contender Picasso Alan (31-0-1, 16 KOs) outpointed replacement opponent Yehison Cuello (13-3-1, 11 KOs) in the third round of the scheduled ten-round fight. Picasso, 24, landed a beautiful left kick to the body in the third round that put the Colombian's cuello to the canvas. Then the referee counted it.

The towering 5'8″ Picasso's skills were on another level, as he landed a perfect left to the body from the first round and kept away from Coelho's powerful punches. Coelho was downloading everything.

When it calls sometimes, you can hear the impact sound. He definitely had the power. By the third round, Picasso had complete control of the fight, and it was only a matter of time before he got the knockout.

With this victory, Picasso remains ready to fight against undisputed super bantamweight champion Naoya Inoue. He is one of the fighters vying to defend Inoue's title following his Jan. 24 fight against Sam Goodman.

The 28-year-old Munguia (44-1, 28 KO) is trying to get a quick rematch with Canelo Alvarez after losing to him on May 4. Munguia has fought once since then, stopping fringe contender Eric Bazinyan in the 10th round on September 20.

ESPN+ main card tonight

– Jaime Munguia vs. Bruno Saraschi
– Alain Picasso vs. Jason Coelho

Picasso (30-1, 16 KOs) is expected to be the next challenger for undisputed super bantamweight champion Naoya Inoue if he is victorious tonight over Cuello (13-2-2, 11 KOs) in their combined 10-round fight.

Munguia has an easy fight tonight against Sauras (25-0-2, 4 KOs). None of the four agencies that imposed the sanctions ranked Soras in the top 15. The reason for this is clear: Soras' opposition was weak.

It is not clear why Top Rank chose this opponent for Munguia instead of a top-tier contender. If the idea is to make Munguia look great and make sure he doesn't get beaten up by anyone to ruin his chances in a rematch with Canelo, then facing him against fighters like Surace and Bazinyan makes sense.

Ideally, Munguia should show some guts by taking on the top contenders at 168 to speed up the process of getting a rematch with Canelo, but he's too weak to do that. Munguia didn't even look good in his last bout against Bazinyan.

If Munguia is ambitious and willing to take risks, he will fight these guys to win a rematch with Alvarez:

– Oslis Iglesias
– Christian Mbele
-Diego Pacheco
– Caleb plant

Munguia is not expected to fight any of these fighters. It's work. His next fight will likely be against Edgar Berlanga, who has said he is interested in fighting. Berlanga is on the same talent level as Bazinyan and is an easy mark for Munguia or any of the fighters on the roster.
