Tim David's explosive half-century powered the Hobart Hurricanes to a five-wicket win over the Adelaide Strikers on Sunday. Chasing a challenging target of 187, the Hurricanes recovered from a shaky start thanks to David's heroics up the middle, to record their fourth win in five matches.

Hurricanes get off to a flying start

The Hurricanes got off to a fast start, thanks to a strong opening partnership between Mitchell Owen and Matthew Wade. The duo added 61 runs in just 28 balls, setting the tone for the chase. Owen was particularly devastating, smashing three successive sixes off Jimmy Overton in the fourth over.

However, Lloyd Pope brought the Strikers back into the game by dismissing Owen for 37 off 16 balls. Wade followed soon after, falling for 27 off 18 while trying to sweep Cameron Boyce. The Hurricanes, which had been cruising, found themselves at 101/4 by the 11th.

With the border drying up, Tim David took matters into his own hands. Targeting Overton in the 15th over, he smashed three sixes and a four to take 26 runs from the over. David showed off his half-century in just 22 balls, showcasing his explosive batting.

Tim David and Nikhil Chaudhary put together a lively 75-run stand for the fifth wicket to stabilize the Hurricanes' chase. Choudhary contributed 22 off 22 balls before getting out, but David made sure there were no mistakes.

With just 11 runs needed from the final two overs, David scored a six from Brendan Doggett to ease the pressure, and Chris Jordan sealed the win with a boundary. David finished unbeaten with 62 off just 28 balls, smashing six sixes and three fours, as the Hurricanes wrapped up the match with eight balls to spare.

Collective striking effort of the attackers

Earlier in the day, the Adelaide Strikers posted a competitive total of 186/5, thanks to valuable contributions from Chris Lynn and Alex Ross. Lynn's brisk 49 off 27 balls, featuring five fours and three sixes, gave the strikers a strong start.

Ross played a vital role in the middle, scoring 47 off 29 balls. Participate in the 64 round platform with Ollie Bob before falling to a brilliant catch by Mitchell Owen. Overton's 27 deliveries from 18 deliveries ensured that the Strikers finished strongly, adding 41 points in the final four.
