Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger once said that “the first duty and highest obligation of government is public safety.” He was right.
Less than a decade later, progressive Democrats in Sacramento successfully passed California's now-infamous law.State of sanctuary“The law, putting public safety aside for what they saw as a more righteous and important cause; making sure that immigrants here illegally would not face deportation when they committed crimes.
Instead of removing Criminals, illegal immigrants From our communities by releasing them to federal agents for deportation, law enforcement agencies across the state have since been forced to release them back onto our streets where they often commit crimes again, sometimes with disastrous consequences.
In 2021, federal immigration officials attempted to arrest an undocumented immigrant who had already been reported for deportation when he was arrested on domestic violence charges after beating the mother of his three-year-old child. Instead, thanks to these “sanctuary” policies, he was released the next day. He proceeded to shoot her, killing her in front of their daughter.
Earlier this year, I visited our southern border and spoke with immigration officials who warned of the danger of these matters Criminals, illegal immigrants antiquities. They expressed their deep concern about the growing number of young people crossing the border, fearing that some of them may have unknown criminal histories in their home country. But in San Diego, even if these illegal immigrants continue to commit crimes, our law enforcement agencies are hampered by these reckless “sanctuary” policies.
These rules have hurt Californians and will continue to do so. But now, in its infinite wisdom, the Democratic-majority San Diego County Board of Supervisors has decided to take things a step further.
Current law allows local Law enforcement Cooperating with federal immigration officers in extreme cases such as murder and gang violence, but the board felt that was too harsh for these criminals. Last week, they voted to make San Diego County a “super sanctuary” where under no circumstances can local law enforcement cooperate with federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement without an order from a federal judge.
In their race for the title of who Trump hates most, three House Democrats voted to ensure that even if illegal immigrants are arrested for murder, rape, child abuse or drug sales, they are not deported. This means that if a case fails because a witness disappears or decides not to testify, as often happens, the illegal immigrants who killed San Diegans will be released to kill again in our communities even if ICE requests their deportation.
They claim this is a stance against Trump's policies that would allow more of these criminal illegal immigrants to be deported, but it's actually a step much further than that. This amounts to full aiding and abetting hardened violent criminals who are in our country illegally and committing heinous and violent crimes in our communities.
To what end? Poke and antagonize the next boss to get progressive brownie points? To be seen as standing up to the bogeyman by protecting yourself and surrounding yourself with real people here in our communities?
This is despicable. Our job as elected officials is to protect the people we represent. The families and communities that elected us. It is looking for their interests and safety above all else. This, not that.

There is some hope, however, as San Diego County Mayor Kelly Martinez announced that she will not abide by the new law.A super haven“, citing her position as an independently elected official whose policy is not determined by the County Council. I commend her for rejecting this partisan virtue signaling prioritizing public safety.
On the other hand, I and other Republican elected officials in San Diego are working on solutions to combat statewide council foolishness.

We must go back to the era when Elected leaders Putting the best interests of their constituents into engaging in political battles in the headlines. At a time when politicians have prioritized keeping ordinary, hard-working people safe, rather than protecting criminals here illegally who seek to do them harm.
Today I call on the Board of Supervisors to reconsider this new “super sanctuary” policy and I call on San Diego residents to speak up and make their voices heard. If this “super sanctuary” policy is not what you want for your community, contact your supervisor and let them know. Because, as Governor Schwarzenegger said, your safety is supposed to be their first duty and highest obligation.
