(Reuters) – The Biden administration intends to announce on Monday an easing of restrictions on humanitarian aid to Syria and speed up the delivery of essential supplies without lifting sanctions restricting other aid to the new government in Damascus, The Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday.

The move, approved by the administration over the weekend, allows the Treasury Department to issue exemptions to aid groups and companies that provide essentials like water, electricity and other humanitarian supplies, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing officials.
