The Senate was appointed to vote on Thursday for the presidency Donald Trump Choose to lead the Ministry of Interior, former governor of North Dakota Doug Burgum.
The Upper Chamber of Progress voted in Burgum's nomination for a confirmation on Wednesday, 78-20.
Burgum appeared in front of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee in mid -January, when the legislators told the national security and economics issues to him to lead the agency.
“When energy production is restricted in America, it does not reduce demand. About the environment, but they use their energy sales to finance wars against us and our allies,” Burgum said in his opening statement on January 16.
The lawmakers, including the Democratic Senator Mazi Herono, De Hawaii, asked Burgum about whether he would seek to dig for oil in national gardens if Trump asked him to do so.
“As part of my right duty, I will follow the law and follow the constitution. So you can rely on it,” said Burgum. “I have not heard anything about President Trump, who wants to do anything other than the progress of energy production for the benefit of the American people.”
Burgum served as Governor of North Dakota from 2016 to 2024. He also launched a presidential offer in the 2024 elections in June 2023, when energy and natural resources served as major issues during his campaign.

Burgum appeared during the first two Republican presidential discussions, but he was not eligible for the third and ended his campaign in December 2023. Then Trump supported the Republican Party nomination a month ago before the Iowa conferences.
