While firefighters battled a fast-moving blaze in Pacific Palisades, a second inferno broke out in nearby Pasadena.
The two fires forced more than 30,000 people to leave their homes. An estimated 200 acres are now burning in the Pasadena area as fighters battle the Eaton Fire. Eaton firefighters are transporting evacuations as the fire continues to advance.
Strong Santa Ana winds grounded aerial firefighting aircraft, rendering them unable to fly and hampering aerial water bombing efforts.
