New Orleans Saints Star defensive tackle Cam Jordan was exiting practice when the television turned on and he heard chants of “USA” in the Sugar Bowl.

Cheers came from the crowd after the game was postponed one day due to the terrorist attack that occurred on Bourbon Street in the early morning of New Year's Day. There are at least 14 victims killed with many injured.

Jordan, 35, spoke about what those cheers meant to him when he joined “Fox and friends” Friday.

“New Orleans is a resilient city. In order for the Sugar Bowl to be postponed by a day, Mayor Cantrell went to Bourbon Street for a pregame prayer, then came out at the start of the Sugar Bowl as we had just finished practicing, turn on the TV and listen to the chants,” Jordan said. America, you know exactly what this is about.”

“This is about supporting each other, this is about America supporting each other, and this is about understanding that this is a tragedy, and we will overcome it. If anything, we realize that we as a city of New Orleans are supported by the rest of the country.”

Jordan has He spent his entire 14-year career with the Saints and was a leader not only on the field, but off it as well.

Jordan said he donated $25,000 to New Year's Tragedy Fund In a post on social media.

“I mean honestly, I'm lucky enough to be in a position where I can go forward and give back. I mean when I think about the tragedy that happened on New Year's Eve, New Year's Day on Bourbon Street, when you know people are out there trying to celebrate and have a good time,” Jordan said. Enjoy and stay home.”

“As long as I've been here, I feel like I'm a part of this city, and I've made it clear that I love this place from top to bottom. So, when it comes to something like this I just want to give back, make sure it's done the right way, and I wanted to make sure these victims are helped.” , and obviously the Greater New Orleans Fund has opened a fund to do just that.

An eight-time Pro Bowler and one-time All-Pro, Jordan was an iron man, missing only two games during his illustrious career.

This season, Jordan has four sacks totaling 33 tackles with the Saints.
