It is currently illegal to vote in the federal elections. Although the law does not apply to government and local elections, there is currently no state in the United States that allows non -citizens to vote in the state levels.
Some areas, however, allow non-citizens to vote in local elections-including Washington, DC
“Free and fair elections are the cornerstone of our democracy, and this is why protecting them from the non -citizen influence is necessary for our nation's sovereignty and will ensure that America has a prosperous democracy for upcoming decades.”
“These bills are three logical steps that we can take to ensure that non -citizens do not affect our elections by voting or manage them. We must protect the safety of our electoral system, and these bills will only do so.”
Earlier this year, Republicans in the House of Representatives acknowledged Protection of the Law on American voters (Save)Which requires proof of citizenship in the voter registration process.
The majority of Democrats have shouted at the efforts led by the Republican Party to vote non -citizens, as the progressive lawmakers accuse Republican people of trying to spread suspicion about the elections in the country by targeting something already illegal in most cases.
Republican Democrats also criticized the payment of draft laws such as the Conservation Law just weeks before the November elections.
