Anthony Edwards is one of the highest paid players in NBABut his wallet takes another hit.

The league imposed a fine on Minnesota Timberwolves star $50,000 for what was described as “obscene gestures”. The NBA determined that the gestures in question were directed at the referee. The latest penalty brings his total season fine to $285,000.

He has been penalized five times this season for various behavioral transgressions, most of which stem from language.

Edwards, the top pick in 2020 NBA draftsigned a five-year rookie extension after the 2022-23 season. He earned All-NBA honors the following year, bringing the total value of his contract to $224 million over five years.

The league cited Edwards' behavior with 1:26 minutes left in the third quarter of a 127-125 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday when announcing the penalty.

Edwards, a two-time All-Star in his fifth season, was replaced with 2:25 remaining in the period. He earned the NBA's all-time leading ninth technical foul of the season while on the bench.

During the month of December, he was charged $100,000 for profanity during a live television interview, $75,000 for vulgar public criticism of the administration, and $25,000 for profanity in a media interview. In November, he was fined $35,000 for making an obscene gesture in court.

Edwards finished last weekend's loss to Grizzlies With 15 points. The T'Wolves entered Monday night's game against the Washington Wizards with a 20-18 record and sitting in eighth place in the Western Conference standings.
