The former home of Brittany Murphy and Britney Spears On the market again.
This Hollywood Hills home is for sale for $17,995,000 According to Zillow. It was also the location where Murphy was found collapsed on December 20, 2009. The Clueless actress was then rushed to Cedars-Sinai Hospital where she died the same day.
At the time, it was found that Murphy died of a combination of pneumonia, anemia, prescription and over-the-counter medications.
Murphy's husband Simon Monjack was found dead on the same property 5 months after his wife's death. He was 40 years old. The Los Angeles coroner declared that Monjack died of similar causes as Murphy.
In the home's real estate listing, it is described as “an architectural gem, located within a sought-after area of celebrity homes.” The listing also states that the house “underwent a complete transformation, emerging as a testament to luxurious living and fine craftsmanship.”
The home, built in 1997, has 6 beds and 9 baths in 9,400 square feet. When the Murphys bought the house, they weren't the first celebrities to live within its walls.
The couple bought the house from Spears, the pop star and music icon, in 2003 for $3.85 million.
During her time living in the house, the “Toxic” singer claimed to have had supernatural experiences there.
On a 2021 episode of “We Need To Talk About Britney,” former makeup artist Julianne Kaye described her experience with the singer.
“(Spears) had this place in Sunset Plaza — and I'm just going to say, that's really weird… She called me… Asked my friend to do a Reiki healing on her,” Kaye said at the time. “He came; I think she was having a crazy party weekend and needed to relax. He left, and I swore to God he opened a spiritual portal or something, and these evil spirits came in…and they were trying to, like, push her down the stairs or something crazy.
After that experience, Spears never returned home, instead staying at the Casa del Mar hotel, Kaye said.
“I know you're going to think I'm crazy,” she says. I'm not crazy. I know what I saw. “I know how you felt,” Kai added.
Murphy was also reported to be uncomfortable with the drug. In a 2010 interview with The Hollywood ReporterMonjack detailed the actress's discomfort with the house.
“I absolutely hated the Rising Glen house,” Monjack told the outlet. “Every time we drove to Sunset, Brett would say, ‘Please, can we stay at the Beverly Hills Hotel?’ I would say, ‘Honey, you have to be realistic. We have our own house, a 10,000-square-foot house. We’re going to stay there.’”
