A man who killed dozens when he rammed his car into people exercising outside a stadium in southern China has been executed, state media reported.
Fan Weiqiu, 62, killed at least 35 people and injured more than dozens on November 11 after he rammed his car into an exercise track in Zhuhai, in what is believed to be the deadliest attack on Chinese territory in a decade.
The court heard that the reason for the outburst was Vann's “dissatisfaction” with how his property was divided following his divorce.
His execution on Monday comes less than a month after the court sentenced him to death.
Fan was found guilty of “endangering public safety,” with the court describing his motives as “extremely despicable” and the “methods” used “particularly cruel.”
The attack was one of 19 attacks targeting strangers that will occur across China in 2024, including two within a week of the Zhuhai attack.
