Ruben Amorim has admitted that the current Manchester United team may be the worst in the club's 147-year history.

Amorim was left in the lurch once again as United dropped to A.C Defeat 3-1 at home Against Brighton & Hove Albion, just days after Amad Diallo spared embarrassment against Southampton with a late hat-trick at Old Trafford.

Goals by Kaoru Mitoma and Jorginio Rutter Thanks to a huge mistake by Andre Onanacondemning United to their sixth home defeat of the season, Amorim made his feelings about the level of players at his disposal clear when addressing the media after the match.

“In ten matches Premier League“We won two,” he said. “I know that. Imagine what this is for Manchester United fans. Imagine what this is for me. We are getting a new coach who loses more than the previous one. I have full knowledge of that.

“I won't change no matter what. I know we can succeed but we need to survive this moment. I'm not naive. We need to survive now.”

“We are probably the worst team in history Manchester United. I know you want headlines but I say that because we have to acknowledge that and change that. There you go: your headlines.”

He continued: “It is difficult to explain it. We have to acknowledge the moment and not turn around the problem. Everyone here is performing poorly, regardless of the circumstances. We are performing poorly and we have to accept that.”

“It is unacceptable to lose a lot of games for any club in the Premier League, imagine Manchester United. So it is a really difficult moment but we have to keep going, we have to keep going, there is no other way. We need to suffer and keep going.”

“Our players are really nervous and anxious. When you step on the last pitch, you remember the last games here, if you feel it, the players feel it a lot. The only way is to keep doing the same and win games.”

Amorim was expected to quickly turn things around at United after Erik ten Hag was sacked in October, but the former Sporting Lisbon coach has won just five of his 15 matches in all competitions, losing seven.
