Nottingham Forest captain Morgan Gibbs-White said after their draw with Arsenal in the English Premier League that qualifying for the Champions League would be “absolutely unbelievable.”

Gibbs-White scored against his former club Wolverhampton as Forest won 3-0 to take their tally to 40 points by winning their sixth match in a row.

They are six points behind leaders Liverpool – who they host next week – and look well placed to mount a serious challenge for fourth place.

The victory at Molineux Stadium marks the 50th anniversary of the appointment of Brian Clough, who won the European Cup twice with Forest in 1979 and 1980.

Forest have played in the UEFA Cup three times since winning the title, but have never played in the Champions League.

“It's going to be absolutely incredible,” Gibbs-White said. “There will be a few fans who might be able to experience it twice.

“To be able to give them that opportunity again is what we really want to do as a club.

“The owner believes in him, and we believe in him. We just have to take it one game at a time and not get ahead of ourselves. Stay calm and be humble.”

“The city will be happy”

Manager Nuno Espirito Santo was smiling after the win over his former team, but said they had achieved nothing so far.

He said: “We have not achieved anything yet, we need to work until the end and this can lead us to good moments

“My ambition is always the same. As a coaching staff we have this natural ambition to improve players, and that's what we're obsessed with.

“If we improve the players, the team will improve, and if the team improves, the club will improve and the city will be happy.”
