The United States and Lebanon says that the ceasefire with Israel – which was scheduled to be expired on Sunday – was extended until mid -February.

Israel had kept the forces deployed in Lebanon after the first deadline, accusing the Lebanese government of not implementing its entire part of the deal, which requires the removal of Hezbollah from the region.

On Sunday, the Lebanese Ministry of Health said that the Israeli soldiers killed 22 people and wounded 124 others who were trying to return to their homes in the south of the country.

The Prime Minister in Lebanon, Naguib Mikati, says, after calling from the United States, the armistice will now remain in place until February 18.

The initial ceasefire plan, which was announced in late November, has ended the end of 14 months of conflict between Israel and the Lebanese Armed Group Hezbollah.

The United States and France mediated in it, the agreement gave Hezbollah 60 days to end its armed presence in southern Lebanon and the Israeli forces required to withdraw during the same period.

The president and the newborn announced at the time, which is “deaf”, which is “designed”, which is “designed to be a permanent stop for positions” between the two sides.

But Friday, with the passage of two days before the deadline, Israel said that some soldiers will remain in the region because the ceasefire agreement “was not fully applied by the Lebanese state.”

A White House statement said on Sunday that the deadline has now been transferred to February 18, and that the negotiations will begin with the return of the Lebanese prisoners who were captured after October 7, 2023.

Thousands of Lebanese population returned to the towns and villages near the border since the agreement was agreed, despite warnings that the region is still unsafe.

On Sunday, the Lebanese Ministry of Health said that 22 people were killed by Israeli soldiers in the area.

The Israeli army said it launched “warning footage in multiple areas”, without specifying whether people were beaten, and arrested many people who claimed to be “an imminent threat.”

The conflict has long escalated between Israel and Hezbollah – a militant movement supported by the Iranians, political and social – last September. This leads to an intense Israeli air campaign across Lebanon, a ground invasion of the south of the country, and the assassination of Hezbollah leaders.

The attack was killed about 4000 people in Lebanon – including many civilians – and led more than 1.2 million people to start.

The declared goal of Israel was to allow the return of about 60,000 residents who fled societies in the north of the country due to Hezbollah attacks, and to remove the group from the regions along the border.

Hezbollah launched its campaign the day after Hamas attacks on southern Israel on October 7, 2023, saying it was acting in solidarity with the Palestinians in Gaza.
