A waterway in a suburb of the Argentine capital, Buenos Aires, turned bright red on Thursday, which raises the anxiety of the locals.

SARANDí channel flows through residential neighborhoods and industrial areas before reaching a esophagus, RIO De La Plata, which limits ecological reserves.

Local media reports indicate that the color may be the result of dumping the tissue dye, or by chemical waste from a nearby warehouse.

The authorities took samples to determine the source of pollution.
