the pakistan cricket The Board of Directors (PCB) has announced a new date for 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL) Draft. The event was originally scheduled to be held on January 11 in Gwadar, Balochistan. However, it will now be held on January 13 at Huzoori Bagh, Lahore Fort.

Why the change in PSL Draft date?

The Program Coordinating Council cited the weather forecast as the main reason for delaying the bill for two days. This shift was made to give the production crew and broadcasters enough time to get everything ready for the event. It is expected to rain in Gwadar on January 11.

A dress rehearsal for the draft ceremony will take place on January 12, allowing the PSL management to iron out any logistical kinks before the main event.

PCB Official Statement

The PCB issued a press release confirming the date and location of the rescheduled draft. “The HBL PSL Player Draft has been rescheduled and will now be held on January 13 at Huzoori Bagh, Lahore Fort,” the statement read. The board also stated that Gwadar will remain a key venue for the 2025 HBL PSL Cup round scheduled to take place in March.

The event will be broadcast live from 12:30 pm PKT on January 13, as all six teams assemble their squads for the much-anticipated 10th edition of the league.

Qadir Khawaja confirms the news

Prominent journalist Qadir Khawaja published the news on social media, confirming the postponement. He noted that the PSL management is keen to ensure a smooth and well-organised draft process.

“Exclusive: The draft date for the 10th season of the Pakistan Super League has been changed,” Khawaja posted on X (formerly Twitter). “The ceremony will now be held in Lahore on January 13. The rehearsal will be held on January 12. The date change was due to rain forecast in Gwadar. The PSL management wants the event to be run efficiently.

Key players register for the PSL Draft

This year's PSL draft is set to feature some high-profile international names, including former Australian opener David Warner, retired New Zealand pacer Tim Southee, and Bangladeshi stars Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman. More than 80 foreign players registered for the draft.

Interestingly, the PSL 2025 season will run parallel to the Indian Premier League (IPL), providing PCB with an opportunity to attract international stars who were not sold in the IPL 2024 Mega Auction. While the salary cap may deter some players, others may be tempted to join the PSL for the chance to play in front of enthusiastic crowds.
