Premier League legend Alan Shearer criticized the terrible decision made by referee Michael Oliver Arsenal left-back Miles Lewis Skelly was sent off yesterday.
The Gunners were reduced to ten players following Lewis Skelly's bizarre red card, and there was widespread criticism of Oliver's decision.
It remains to be seen whether there is a chance of that decision being overturned, or whether Oliver could face any action from PGMOL, but Shearer did not back down from his assessment of this shock call at Molineux.
Speaking on Match of the Day, as quoted on BBC SportThe critic also explained that he was surprised that no one from VAR intervened during the match when there was an obvious foul.
Alan Shearer backs Arsenal in another refereeing controversy
“He should have gotten a yellow card, it's a terrible decision,” Shearer said. “There was no speed, no intensity, it wasn't putting the opponent in danger and it was 90 yards from goal, so there was never a red card.
“What worries me is that there is a VAR and VAR assistant who have watched many replays and think it is a serious foul.”
Arsenal may have been down to ten men, but Wolves were also sent off later in the game Riccardo Calafiore's goal was enough Giving Mikel Arteta's team the three points.
However, this is not the first time this season that Arsenal have been on the end of some strange decisions, with the north Londoners looking very unlucky in some crucial moments.
However, Arteta's side are still in contention, even if Liverpool are the clear favorites to win the Premier League title as it stands.
