Europe will be looking to pull off a historic Ryder Cup win on American soil later this year, with 20 players hoping to feature in Luke Donald's side they compete for this week in a three-day special teams competition.
The “Team Cup” pits DP World Golf Tour players from Great Britain and Ireland against players from continental Europe in a unique competition held at the Abu Dhabi Golf Resort and Live on Sky Sports Golf Friday.

What is a team cup?
The Team Cup is a team tournament on the DP World Tour, where 10 players from Great Britain and Ireland face 10 players from continental Europe in a three-day event.
Justin Rose and Francesco Molinari will serve as team captains, with the event added to the DP World Tour schedule to give players more experience in Ryder Cup-style competitions.
Donald has selected the two squads, in consultation with the two captains, before he takes charge of Team Europe against the USA in the Ryder Cup next September at Bethpage Black.
How did the players qualify?
The top four players available from the 2024 Race to Dubai rankings have earned their places on each team, with five captains selected from both sides announced by Donald after the conclusion of the season in the DP World Tour Championship.
The final member of each side was then named after the Nedbank Golf Challenge, the third event of the 2025 Race to Dubai, with both teams featuring a mix of former Ryder Cup players and some of the DP World Tour's rising stars.

What is coordination?
Like the Ryder Cup, the Team Cup is a three-day team match-playing event consisting of four-ball, four-ball and singles, although the big difference is that each player plays in each session.
The two 10-player teams will go head-to-head across one four-ball session on Friday and two four-ball sessions on Saturday, with five matches in each session all worth a maximum of one point.
Foursomes sees two golfers from one team compete against a pair from the other, with team members alternating between shots and each team using one ball. Fourballs sees each player use their own ball, with the lowest score from each pair counting toward their team's score.
Each player then returns for individual Sunday matches, with a total of 25 points on offer over the three days.
Who has impressed at this event before?
The Team Cup – previously known as the Champion Cup – was played for the first time in January 2023, with Molinari leading continental Europe to a 14½-10½ win over Tommy Fleetwood's GB and Ireland team.
The competition has similarities to the CIF Cup, named after Seve Ballesteros and held eight times between 2000 and 2013, which gave future Ryder Cup captains Colin Montgomery, Jose Maria Olazabal, Sir Nick Faldo, Paul McGinley and Thomas Bjorn driving experience.
What does this mean for the Ryder Cup?
Six players who featured in the 2023 edition of the event went on to represent Team Europe in the Ryder Cup later that year, with Fleetwood – captain of Great Britain and Ireland – picking up the winning point in a 16.5-11.5 win over Team USA. In Rome.
