IBF super middleweight champion William Scull revealed today that he has been approached by Canelo Alvarez's team for an undisputed championship bout on May 168 in Las Vegas.

If the fight is made against Cuban Scull (23-0, 9 KOs), WBA, WBC, and WBO 168-pound champion, Canelo (62-2-2, 39 KOs) will have the opportunity to become a two-time undisputed champion.

Canelo's call

This probably won't make Terence Crawford happy as he was hoping to move up to 168 to challenge Canelo for his unified titles. However, it doesn't look like that will happen for Crawford (41-0, 31 KO), and he will need to make other plans, such as fighting at 154 or retiring. Well, we don't always get what we want.

With his net worth estimated at 250 million dollarsCanelo is the only fighter that Turki Al-Sheikh cannot convince to fight the fights he wants. Of course, anything is possible. If Turk offers Canelo a cool $150 million to fight Crawford, he might be tempted by the sweet offer. Regardless of what happens, it's doubtful that Canelo will indulge Crawford because he's kind of a losing fight.

It's not looking good for Crawford with his dreams of facing Canelo, but he probably won't leave him sitting around hoping for that matchup to happen.

If Crawford kept busy fighting as often as hard-working people do every day, he wouldn't need to push so hard for… Golden umbrella Retirement fight against Canelo. He will make a lot of money from his other fights.

If Crawford moves up to 175, he could face David Benavidez and try to put himself in position to get a big payday in fighting undisputed light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev. Crawford reportedly competes with light heavyweights all the time.

Scull, 32, recently captured the vacant IBF title with a dubious 12-round unanimous decision win over Vladimir Shishkin on October 19 in Stadtthal, Valkensee, Germany. The scores were 116-113, 116-112 and 115-113. Many boxing fans felt that Shishkin had done enough to deserve the victory.

Skull's big break

“William Skull confirms to Cubanos Punos that there is a rapprochement between his team and #Canelo for a possible unification showdown next May in Las Vegas. Scull adds that next January 10, there will be an official meeting between the two teams to finally agree on everything. Furthermore, the IBF super middleweight world champion explains that Berlanga was already there as a possibility, as was Christian Mbele, who was ruled out for financial reasons. X.
