Investing.com – Indian stocks fell after the close on Monday, as losses in stocks and sectors dragged stocks lower.
At the end of trading, the New York Stock Exchange index fell by 0.64%, while the index fell by 0.63%.
The best performers of the session were Adani companies Ltd (NS:), which rose 7.57% or 182.40 points and reached 2,592.35 at the close. Meanwhile, HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:) rose by 1.95% or 36.95 points and closed at 1,928.95. Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:) rose 1.71% or 29.20 points at 1,740.85 at the end of the session.
It was the worst performance of the session Hindalco Industries (NS:), which decreased in value by 2.64%, or 16.30 points, and traded at 601.10 levels at closing. Bharat Electronics Ltd (NS:) was down 2.45% or 7.15 points at 284.90. Trent Ltd (NS:) fell 2.30% or 163.95 points to 6,954.35.
Among the top performers in the BSE Sensex 30 were HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:) up 1.30% at 1,916.20, Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:) up 1.16% at 1,731.70 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. 0.77% to close at 960.85.
Among the weakest performing stocks today were Tata Motors Ltd (BO:) which fell by 1.94% to close at 736.00, JSW Steel Ltd (BO:) which lost 1.65% to 898.00 and Titan Company Ltd (BO:) which lost 1.65% to close at 736.00. Decreased by 1.57%. To 3,258.40 at close.
Declining stocks outnumbered advancing stocks on the NSE by 1776 to 762, and 147 finished unchanged; On the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2,495 shares fell and 1,433 shares rose, while 143 shares closed unchanged.
Which measures the implied standard deviation of options on the Nifty 50 traded up 5.53% and closed at 13.97.
Gold futures for February delivery fell 0.26% or 6.81 and closed at $2,625.09 per ounce. Elsewhere in commodity trading, crude oil contracts for February delivery fell 0.21%, or 0.15, to reach a price of $70.45 a barrel, while the March Brent crude contract fell 0.22%, or 0.16, to close at $73.63 a barrel.
USD/INR rose 0.15% to 85.52, while EUR/INR fell 0.06% to 89.26.
US Dollar Index Futures fell 0.09% to 107.70.
