Arsenal have confirmed the appointment of Rene Seligers as permanent coach.
Sligers has been in charge on an interim basis since October following the resignation of Jonas Edvall.
The Women's Premier League team is in third place, seven points behind leaders Chelsea.
After a successful spell, Sligers will be hoping to move on and restore Arsenal's dominance in women's football.
Speaking for the first time as permanent director, she said: “I am very happy to sit here now and that together we have made the decision to move forward in this way.
“I just saw what the players were doing and how we were communicating with the staff and the club and the fans as well. That really factored into my decision of wanting to get the job because obviously when I was thrown into it, it was very sudden, it was very unexpected, and here I was.” To serve the club, but then during my time as a caretaker, it started to grow.

“You start looking at long-term things and seeing where we are going as a team and also connecting with the fans.
“I think I mentioned the game against Manchester United where we didn't get three points, we got one point, but we're doing really well and the fans are supporting us and supporting us. I think that was a crucial moment for me as well to see, okay, there's something we can create here. There's something Positive We Can Create He was growing during those months.
“Obviously (interim coach) is a role I haven't had before, so it's interesting to see how you take on a role like that when the coach suddenly leaves.
