United States Coast Guard Six people are suspects in deadly human smuggling incidents on the Golden State's southwest border last week, California officials said.

These incidents involved more than 60 people and occurred between December 23 and 29, according to the US Coast Guard.

“It is unfortunate that this endeavor has claimed the lives of so many people. Taking to the ocean on unseaworthy vessels with unlicensed captains in cold, unforgiving waters is deadly,” the statement read.

On December 11, the US Coast Guard published a similar statement, saying 14 people were suspected Human smuggling Events involving 73 individuals over a seven-day period.

They pointed out possible complications with Water temperatures Below 60 degrees, which may cause hypothermia in less than 30 minutes.

The US Coast Guard said: “Smuggling attempts put people’s lives in serious danger.”
