Terence Crawford posted a cryptic comment on x today about what he says is an unnamed fighter “He should have fought” Against him when they had the chance.
Bud says the mysterious fighter no longer has the chance to fight him because “it's over now.” He seems bitter about not fighting the fighter, most likely Sebastian Fundora. Crawford could have fought Fundora, but he didn't.
Fans believe he is referring to Fundora, the WBC and WBC junior middleweight champion, who is negotiating a fight against Errol Spence.
Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) It needs adjusting To set him up for a title challenge against unified super middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez. What's needed here is Crawford, not Fundora because he needs a consistent fight to keep him sharp unless he wants to sit out a solid year before fighting Alvarez in September.
If Crawford is serious about wanting to win, he needs to adjust because this will be a much tougher fight than his last fight against Israel Madrimov. He won't be able to beat Canelo after a 13-month absence like he did against Madrimov.
Fundora “The Towering Inferno” would have been perfect for “Bud” Crawford because he is weak and not someone who is likely to beat him like the IBF 154 lb champion Bakram Murtazaliev.
Crawford won't need Fundora if he's brave enough to move up to No. 168 to take on one of the top contenders. He has to fight one of the top five super middleweights to make him ready to face Canelo, right? Isn't that how it's usually done?
If Crawford steps up and fights a 168-year-old contender, he could lose, and that could ruin his chances of making the Canelo fight. Turki Al-Sheikh would likely still be willing to start a Canelo-Crawford fight, but Canelo may veto the idea, knowing he would gain less than he already does.
He really won't get credit for the Crawford fight because he moved up two weight divisions from 154 to 168. There's also Crawford's age. He turns 38 in September.
This means that Canelo received less credit after defeating him. So, it's understandable why Crawford wouldn't want to risk getting his feet wet at 168 by making a tune-up against a contender instead of the weak 154-pound champion, Fundora.
You should have fought the battle when you had the chance, and now it's over.
