Colorado Football Two-way star Travis Hunter won the coveted Heisman Trophy on December 14.
But the following days were filled with controversy as the football star's relationship with his fiancée Liana Lenny was put under the microscope. Some fans targeted Leni for her behavior in videos circulating online.
fellow hunter, Shedwyr SandersI have since decided to address the controversy. The Buffaloes' quarterback suggested that critics should stop weighing in on the wide receiver and defensive back's personal lives.
“You're all athletes, entertainers, performers, etc. If you're really trying to connect with Trav, you know how to connect with him or anyone around you.” Sanders wrote on Xon Sunday. “At this point, you'll just be posting to the algorithm trying to look cool.”

At least one video has surfaced on social media showing Linney remaining in her seat moments after Hunter was named a 2024 Heisman recipient. NFL icon and Colorado coach Deion Sanders Then he appeared to urge Lenny to his feet. In the end, Lainey hugged Hunter briefly before quickly sitting down to a standing ovation from the audience.
Hunter and Lenny's engagement was publicly confirmed earlier this year.
Other video footage appears to show Lainey remaining seated while Hunter greeted fans and took photos with them at an event in New York City the day after the Heisman ceremony. Some fans tried to analyze Leni's behavior during her time at the event, and even suggested that she was upset.
Hunter addressed the situation during a Twitch live streamSaying that his fiancée cried herself to sleep and drank alcohol because of the violent reaction.
“You know the pain when you cry yourself to sleep,” Hunter said, before adding that he didn't want Leni to “go to sleep sad” after drinking.
“I know what I have. I know my daughter. My daughter has been with me for five years,” Hunter said. “You guys just started talking about me and now you're starting to be with me. Come on, man.”
Last week, Leni took to TikTok to respond to the criticism.
“People say I say, ‘What am I supposed to do? Just sitting here?'” she said on December 16 in response to a video. “That's not what I said, first of all.”
on monday, TMZ reported That Hunter decided to deactivate his Instagram account. Hunter has not yet revealed any details about his decision.

Hunter is expected to be one of the first players selected in the 2025 NFL Draft. But he is still expected to play in the Alamo Bowl against BYU.
