Shakur Stevenson says he would like to speak to Gervonta Davis on the phone to try to convince him to fight him without promoters involved.
Tank might think it's creepy if Shakur calls him. Maybe he sees it that way Stalker behavior He is postponed further and his phone number is changed.
Disdain the tank
Stevenson would love to try to arrange a fight like Terence Crawford did with Errol Spence in 2023. However, Shakur (22-0, 10 KOs) doesn't think Gervonta would agree to that idea because he has “some things against me.”
The truth is, Tank doesn't like runners, and Shakur doesn't belong to that era. Mayweather's old, outdated style harkens back to a bygone era.
Tank (30-0, 28 KOs) may have been put off by Shakur's desperate obsession with him, throwing his name around in interviews, clout-chasing to promote his fights, and being an unentertaining fighter. Davis would be the draw in their fight, and Shakur would just be there as a cardboard prop.
If Shakur can build his name by beating quality fighters and staying in the pocket to trade instead of running, he won't need to beg Gervonta for a fight. Getting booed in his frequent fights for being boring makes Shakur one of the lowest castes in terms of boxing. He didn't deserve to be in King Tank's presence.
Change needed for Shakur
– Stay in the pocket
-Stop running
– Take risks
– Facing better opposition
“I said, 'Let's fight.' What else do you want me to do?” Shakur Stevenson told Shawn Porter YouTube channel about him asking Gervonta 'Tank' Davis for a fight. “When I went and did that with Devin, I was clout-chasing. Now, I go and do the same kind of stuff with Tank, and they'll say, ‘He's clout-chasing.'” He's jealous.
“We are in a new generation. These people nowadays, they have all these narratives. I said: Let's fight. I said: Send the contract, and we can make it. I'm not delusional. I'm not going out there to say anything.
“I'm not going to act like I'm Side A, and I deserve 50-50 (in a tank fight). Bro, let's negotiate and see where it goes from there. I know I'm Side B, but let's fight,” Shakur said.
King and abbreviation
Stevenson looks obtuse, thinking all he has to do is say, “Let's fight” to get into a fight against Gervonta. This is not how it is done. He has to fight better opposition, stop running, look good, and keep the fans from booing him 24/7. If all the competitors had to do was say, “Let's fight” for a chance to meet the king, everyone would do it. This isn't how it's going to go.
If Shakur wanted to take a shortcut to fight against Gervonta, he would have to do something brave, just like in the days of the knights and King Arthur. He should move up to 154 and defeat either Bakram Murtazaliev or Virgil Ortiz Jr. If Stevenson did that, his popularity would skyrocket, and he would have no problems putting up a fight against Tank.
Opposition to win the tank fight
-Andy Cruz
-Jaron Ennis
– Edwin de los Santos: *Rematch
-William Zepeda
– Jose “Rayo” Valenzuela
– Abdullah Maysoon
“I think so,” Shakur said, in response to being told that he and Gervonta are the two biggest names, and it's the biggest fight. “Besides Terrence and Canelo, in addition to that, Tank and I are the biggest fight. It's not on me. I'm not the side. I accept that I'm the B side.
“That was the way it worked with Terence and Errol,” Stevenson said of Terence Crawford and Errol Spence talking on the phone face to face, without promoters, to agree to the fight. “That was a great approach. I'm going to say no to that, but the guy (Tank Davis) has some animosity against me.
“Something about me. I would be willing to do that. Negotiate, talk, sit down with each other. I would be willing to do that, myself. But it's not going to happen. I'm open to that. It's never going to happen,” Shakur said of Gervonta's unwillingness to talk. With him: “It won't happen because of him.”
“Yes, absolutely,” Shakur said when asked if he wanted a tank battle “a million percent.” “Me and Tank, that's the focus. This is the biggest fight in boxing. This is the fight that's going to pay me the most. He's paid the most. He's going to make more with me than with anyone else. My focus is Tank,” Shakur said when asked if he was interested in a fight. His good friend Keshawn Davis: “Tank and I should fight.”
