Shakur Stevenson wants to see Tyson Fury fight IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois after losing a rematch to unified champion Oleksandr Usyk last Saturday night in Riyadh.
Fury should go toe-to-toe with Dubois, but he won't get close to this elite predator. With the way Dubois goes to the body, Fury will be very vulnerable in his delicate state.
I don't think Shakur understands what Fury is about. He's taking calculated risks, and he's not about to put his head on the block facing a walking guillotine Dubois. If anger is true, Audie Murphy Write, you won't have to ask him twice to confront Dubois. He's not interested in that, though. Fighting Dubois will be Bad for Fury's health.
Too powerful, too small?
It would show great courage on the part of the Gypsy King to agree to fight Dubois because after what he just went through, he doesn't want to suffer a third loss in a row. It would be an easy fight to make, considering that Fury and Dubois share the same promoter, Frank Warren.
Before Fury's two losses to Usyk, he considered himself the best fighter in the division. His fans saw him as the best, and didn't care about his resume's lack of quality victories.
Many fans would also like to see Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs) fight Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs) next. This will allow him to snap his two-fight losing streak and help build interest in the bout against Anthony Joshua.
The way things are going right now, Fury will enter the AJ fight with an 0-2 record in his last two fights, making their feud a money grab. It is almost impossible for Fury and his promoters to agree to a fight with the 27-year-old Dubois.
He's too powerful, too dangerous, and too young for Fury. The Gypsy King got hurt by Usyk, and he's not a boxer. The three fights Fury had against Deontay Wilder did something for him.
Calculated anger risks
Fury's promoter, Frank Warren, and Anthony Joshua's promoter, Eddie Hearn, are interested in setting up a fight between these two next. Hearn said he would like the first fight to be at Wembley Stadium in London and the second in Riyadh.
Hearn is in a hurry to do the Joshua-Fury fight because he knows that these two men are too far gone to be trusted to fight top 15 contenders unless they are well vetted beforehand and deemed 100% safe.
