Liverpool are reportedly set to begin the January transfer window by letting the player leave, according to the latest from journalist Fabrizio Romano.

See below as the Italian posted on his official X account about what appears to be imminent The departure of the Reds goalkeeper Marcelo Pitaluga.

The Liverpool star attracts the interest of his rivals in the English Premier League!

Romano says all the necessary documents have been signed for the 22-year-old's departure from Liverpool to Fluminense, without a transfer fee, but with a 40% sell-on clause to the Merseyside giants…

Pitaluga is not the biggest name at Liverpool, but he looked like a talented goalkeeper when he first joined the club in 2020.

However, since then, the Brazilian has had to make do with a number of loan spells as he has been unable to break into Liverpool's first team.

Marcelo Pitaluga's transfer exit is certainly no surprise to Liverpool

However, it is not surprising that Pitaluga failed to make a breakthrough in this Liverpool team when there is always strong competition for a place in goal.

Alisson has always been Liverpool's first-choice goalkeeper as he has been a world-class goalkeeper for years now, while Caoimhin Kelleher has been a very solid and reliable backup.

That didn't leave much room for someone like Petaluga or any other young player to get a lot of attention, so exiting now seems like the right decision.

It will be interesting to see if Pitaluga is able to live up to his potential by returning to Brazil, with a sell-on clause of perhaps 40% something that could still be valuable to Liverpool at some point in the future.

For now, though, Liverpool fans will be happy to have a world-class goalkeeper like Alisson on their books, while… Giorgi Mamardashvili will be another exciting addition When he joins from Valencia in the summer.
