Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur has revealed he is “fine” after requiring extensive treatment during the first half of Wednesday's Carabao Cup semi-final win over Liverpool.
Bentancur collapsed on the grass At Tottenham Hotspur Stadium Within opening ten minutes. The Uruguayan national team player was not under any contact from any other player and appeared to hit his head on the ground while taking a corner kick. The midfielder remained face down, causing serious concern among both sets of players.
After nearly ten minutes of on-field treatment, Bentancur was escorted off the field to the back to a standing ovation.

Tottenham Coach Ange Postecoglou was asked about the incident after the game. The coach confirmed: “It was worrying and (a head injury) is always a worry, but we believe at this stage that he will be fine.” “He was conscious on his way to the dressing room.”
When pressed on the type of injury Bentancur suffered, Postecoglou He could only offer twists: “I don't want to speculate because I don't really know. All I know is that he was conscious when he came out.”
“He obviously had a head injury, but he was conscious when he came off the field. He was taken to hospital for observation. But I'm not really clear on how that happened.”
“Unless I get a doctor here, I'm not going to speculate because it's not fair to the people around him. There was concern from the players there, so there's clearly something going on.”
Tottenham travel to the home of fifth-tier club Tamworth Third round of the FA Cup On Sunday lunchtime before the north London derby at Arsenal's Emirates Stadium next Wednesday. While Bentancur is unlikely to feature in any of those matches, it remains to be seen whether he will be available for the semi-final second leg against Liverpool at Anfield in the first week of February.
