Tottenham hosted Liverpool in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final on Wednesday, and a terrifying incident occurred in the first half of the match involving Rodrigo Bentancur.

Tottenham made a positive start to the match and it looked likely that both teams would score in the early stages. With five minutes on the clock, the hosts had the chance to take the lead from a corner kick, but instead, a free kick caused a frightening incident.

While trying to direct the ball toward Liverpool's goal with his head, Bentancur collapsed inside the Reds' penalty area and moved slightly before doctors intervened.

After a long delay, the midfielder left the field and the footage of the incident does not look good. Sky Sports reported in its half-time broadcast that doctors brought the Uruguayan star into the dressing room and he was still there when the first 45 minutes had ended.

And during the break as well Tottenham confirmed The 27-year-old was conscious and talking and would go to hospital for further tests.

Injury could be one of many causes, but it is not fair to speculate, given the severity of the accident.
