Richard Keyes has urged Liverpool to sell Trent Alexander-Arnold, as he criticized the Reds full-back's poor performance against Manchester United on Sunday.

Alexander-Arnold was surprisingly poor against Manchester UnitedThe 2-2 draw was certainly not the kind of result that most people expected going into the match given that Liverpool entered it in good form, while the Red Devils arrived after a poor spell.

However, Liverpool were not quite themselves, Alexander Arnold did not do enough In the crucial moments where United managed to grab a point at Anfield.

Keys now believes Alexander-Arnold has shown he is not good enough for Liverpool, as he surprisingly claims he could actually be best for all parties if he were now sold to Real Madrid.

We're not sure most Liverpool fans would agree with this, but Keyes says that since this looks like a done deal for next summer anyway, once Alexander-Arnold's contract expires, they might as well end the saga now.

One would think there would be a big push not to lose such an important player midway through the season, but Keys seems to think it won't be that big of a loss.

“His performance has proven that Liverpool should take a £20m move from Madrid and settle the sporadic transfer saga surrounding them. It is clear he will leave – so keep the issue in mind,” Keys wrote in his letter. Blog.

“Not to mention all the misguided sentimental nonsense spewed by Liverpool pundits who should know better – get the deal done. Trust me – Liverpool’s season will not hinge on whether the average ‘defender’ stays or goes.

“I'm not saying he's not a good player – I just think his skill set suits Madrid better. Defense is not his strength. The debate is a distraction.”

Alexander-Arnold is certainly too good a player for Liverpool to lose now while there is still hope of tying him down to a new contract, so it's hard to imagine anyone paying much attention to this particular advice.
