He also noted that he loved his daughter and had always “taken care of her” in “every way possible.”
“She always made sure her mother had everything she needed and more,” he wrote. “I have tried to smooth over the divorce issues and be civil and calm like anyone in this situation. I have tried setting up FaceTime calls but not every day like I want due to me being restricted by her mother. I have refused to see her and unfortunately tried to use my daughter as leverage. The NHL continued to investigate the allegations, but they were ultimately dismissed.

Following allegations that Anna was an unfit mother, Evander was awarded sole custody of Kensington, per New York Post. The judge ruled that Anna would professionally supervise their daughter's visits pending her psychiatric evaluation.
“The concerns in court were and continue to be Ms. Kane’s mental stability, potential untreated mental health issues and its effects on the parties’ young daughter,” Evander’s legal counsel, travis Krepelka, Share a statement to New York Post.
Following the court ruling, Anna allegedly took to social media to share a video of Evander pointing a loaded gun at her as well as audio of a November 2020 exchange in which Anna claimed Evander hit their daughter.

“What is particularly egregious about (Anna’s December 1 social media posts), apart from the unreliable and defamatory nature of the statement, is her stated intent to target and harm me, and to call the public more generally to care.” He explained in the court's statement to each San Jose Hockey NowAdding that he is seeking a restraining order against her. “She only seeks to cause me pain – secretly and publicly. I'm afraid she will come to my home, which is confidential, and try to hurt me or take (our daughter).”
The Superior Court of California, Santa Clara County, granted Evander's request for a restraining order.
