Press reports revealed that Real Madrid is preparing to face Las Palmas next month for the long-awaited return of defender David Alaba.
Alaba suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in December 2023 and initially made very slow progress in his recovery, only being able to join the team's coaching staff at the end of 2024.
according to signAlaba has been fully integrated into squad training after returning from the winter break in La Liga, and will now be given several weeks to prove his fitness ahead of a potential competitive return.
If things go according to plan, Madrid The medical staff believe Alaba should be able to play some role against Las Palmas on January 19.
Alaba's imminent return will be a huge boost for Carlo Ancelotti, who realistically only has one centre-back left in Antonio Rudiger, after Eder Militao suffered his second anterior cruciate ligament injury in as many years. Jesus Vallejo is also available but does not appear to be reliable.
Midfielder Aurelien Chouamini often occupies the defensive position, as is youngster Raul Asensio, but Ancelotti is keen to welcome Alaba's experience back into the team.
However, due to return in the second half of January he will miss matches against Valencia, Deportivo Minera, Mallorca and a potential Spanish Super Cup final.
