Oscar Mingueza could have an impact on Marcus Rashford's future
It's clear that with two weeks left until the January transfer window closes, there is still a lot of work to be done.
Manchester United star Rashford is believed to be holding out on a move to Barcelona, and it is also understood that the La Liga giants are keen to see him strut in a Blaugrana shirt in the second half of the 2024/25 season.
To that end, a potential Mingueza deal with Villa becomes absolutely necessary to allow Barcelona to finance their move for him.
Aston Villa's wonder child could be sacrificed in January!
It is not clear at this stage how interested Mingueza himself is in such a move, and Celta Vigo do not appear to have put any pressure on him to accept such a deal.
Villa approaches Oscar Mingueza
In fact, he has been one of the Galician club's best players this season, and it will be difficult for them to replace him.
The 25-year-old has also regained a regular starting place in the Spanish national team, so it's clear he will have to think long and hard about where he wants to spend the remainder of the 2024/25 season and beyond.
At the moment, talks are ongoing and nothing has been reached.
Barcelona will be waiting in the wings, ready to pounce when they are able, or risk losing Rashford if Mingueza decides to stay.
